The research of Dr. Javier Arnaut is focused on the economic growth of emerging regions and the Arctic. His recent work analyzes the relationship between mineral mining and economic development in Greenland. Also, he devotes special attention to the environmental consequences of growth in the Arctic. His research looks to understand the intersection between institutional development, growth, social mobility, and natural resources in the Arctic region from a long-term perspective.
He previously held academic positions in The Netherlands, Poland, and Mexico. He has published scientific articles in similar fields related to Latin American economic and institutional issues. He is currently engaged in international and local projects in collaboration with various scientists and interdisciplinary scholars.
