Language & Education in Nuuk
Assistant professor Christoph Hare Svenstrup has received a grant from the Greenland Research Council to conduct a study for the research project Language & Education in Nuuk.
The project is a study of the relationship between language and social mobility among young people in Nuuk - and the project is planned to run over 2 years with data collection in August, September and October 2022 and 2023.
According to Christoph Hare Svenstrup, the project's target group is young people currently studying.
It is hoped that the results of the study can tell us something about the language challenges young people face when they intend to take a higher (academic) education.
The results of the study could help focus attention on how the education system can better welcome these young people and equip them for their chosen education.
