Ilisimatusarfik invites you to a professor lecture and book launch on Wednesday 01 June from 15.15 to 16.30 in the auditorium at Ilisimatusarfik (live-streaming on our Facebook page).
The event is in Danish.
Program
15.15 - 16.00: Lecture by professor Gestur Hovgaard: "When the knowledge society and the local community meet".
In 2021, Gestur Hovgaard was formally appointed professor of social sciences at the Institute of Society, Economics & Journalism. On this occasion, he will now give his inaugural lecture as professor.
The lecture will draw on his research in planning and local communities - and be based on the question: "How to develop the interaction between knowledge and local communities towards a sustainable future?".
In the lecture, Gestur will draw on his research experience broadly, but in particular discuss the project "Sustainable value chains in Nordic coastal communities", which involves fieldwork in eight Nordic coastal communities, including South Greenland. Based on these experiences, perspectives on a developing cooperation between research and local communities will be presented.
16.10 - 16.30: Book launch by Steven Arnfjord: "Samfundsvidenskabelig praksis - arktiske perspektiver" ('Social science practice - Arctic perspectives').
The book "Samfundsvidenskabelig praksis - arktiske perspektiver" is the first edition by the new Ilisimatusarfik Press.
The book is edited by associate professor Steven Arnfjord and professor Gestur Hovgaard - with contributions from researchers in Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands and Canada.
Steven Arnfjord will talk about the work on the book - and afterwards there will be an opportunity to buy the book at a favorable price.
