With our work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we want to focus on a more sustainable Ilisimatusarfik
Our SDGs
At the beginning of 2023, we held a workshop with students and staff - and decided together which SDGs we should focus on.
Against this background, our SDGs are:
SDG 3: Good health and well-being
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
The way we work with this SDG:
- Develop mandatory programs for students, with a focus on organizing social activities and workshops with e.g. psychologists on stress, exam anxiety, etc. Students will be connected as mentors - and together with staff, they will coordinate and plan the overall course and program.
- Work to be able to offer online education, so that students can take an education online - no matter where they live in Greenland. Focus is also on the social aspect, where students, for example, form study groups online - or at the local Majoriaq or other place with which a cooperation agreement is made.
- Work to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and local (indigenous) knowledge - through this, indigenous knowledge should also be recognized.
- Work to offer summer schools and workshops with institutions and businesses around Greenland. The focus here is on the students' competence development - that is, to help strengthen students' competencies, to translate the academic into the practical, and to focus on cultural understanding and exchange.
SDG 4: Quality education
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
The way we work with this SDG:
- Develop mandatory programs for students, with a focus on organizing social activities and workshops with e.g. psychologists on stress, exam anxiety, etc. Students will be connected as mentors - and together with staff, they will coordinate and plan the overall course and program.
