Exciting lecture on "Greenland's lost world"
The Institute of Health & Nature at Ilisimatusarfik and the Globe Institute at University of Copenhagen invite you to an exciting lecture with the two world-renowned DNA hunters Eske Willerslev and Kurt Kjær.
Thursday 9 November 2023 at 17.00 - 19.00, Eske and Kurt will give a lecture on Greenland's lost world in the canteen at Ilisimatusarfik.
Only two million years ago, Greenland was inhabited by mastodon elephants grazing in the shade of spruce trees.
In the far north of Greenland, it was 10-17 degrees warmer than today. Today, this entire high Arctic ecosystem is extinct.
What can we learn from it? Can we save ourselves?
2 million year old DNA may hold the solution!
Everyone is welcome - and coffee, tea, water and cake will be served.
The lecture will be in Danish - with translation into Greenlandic.
Sincerely;
Anna Kleist Egede, Institute of Health & Nature at Ilisimatusarfik and Anders Johannes Hansen, Globe Institute at University of Copenhagen.
