Public lecture: Social work education & research in the U.S.
Join Dr. Dorothea Ivey, Associate Professor of Social Work and Director of the Graduate Research Opportunities Program at the University of Southern Maine, for an engaging guest lecture exploring the landscape of social work education and research in the United States.
Drawing on her experiences across four distinct regions - Texas, Maryland, Washington, DC, and Maine - Dr. Ivey will provide insights into how diverse regional contexts shape social work practice, research, and education.
Through the lens of her interdisciplinary research and arts-based methods, she will discuss the evolving role of social work in addressing community needs, preserving family histories, and promoting intergenerational resilience.
This session will highlight how unique geographical, cultural, and policy factors influence social work training and scholarship, and will showcase ongoing collaborations between U.S. and Greenlandic institutions.
