Karen Bjørn-Mortensen is a medical doctor, currently specializing in Infectious Diseases. Since 2010, she has worked in Greenland as a physician in Greenland on a regular basis. In 2016, she finished her PhD thesis on tuberculosis in East Greenland which included whole-genome-sequencing of the circulation tuberculosis bacteria. She is the first/co-author of a number of articles on infectious diseases in Greenland, e.g. on HIV and gonorrhea. Currently she is involved in studies in urethritis, syphilis, trichinellosis and tuberculosis. Karen is also an active member of the organizing committee for Nunamed, member of national and international networks and collaborative groups and a board member of Greenland Society of Health Research.
