Attitudes towards Disability

17 November 2020, in cooperation with Ilisimatusarfik, Tilioq - Inuit innarluutillit illersuisuat published the study "Attitudes towards Disability" (in Danish).

The study is the first of its kind in Greenland, and it focuses on the population's attitudes towards people with disabilities as well as specific attitudes in the labor market.

On the basis of the study, disability spokesperson Christina Johnsen and associate professor Steven Arnfjord state:

"People with disabilities must have opportunity to participate in society on an equal footing with all other citizens. This can be supported by an increased focus on the political level, and by a focus on the labor market and in the education system. In society, efforts must be done to strengthen awareness and counteract the population's negative attitudes towards people with disabilities and especially people with invisible disabilities. This requires action from the population, but also from politicians who can take the lead and ban discrimination against people with disabilities."
