Succes with translator during exams

Language is important to us all - and especially when it comes to education. But in some instances, our students make use of a language other than their native language.

Most of our students have Greenlandic as their native language, but especially during oral examinations, to accommodate examiners and censors, these exams have been conducted in Danish.

There has, however, been a demand from our student body regarding this issue - and as a result we have, as a pilot test, offered translations to 6 selected students during the oral examination on the Social Work program just before the summer holidays.

The idea was that the students should have the possibility to make use of their native language without any hindrances - which was a success.

Assistant professor Bonnie Jensen, who served as the examiner during the pilot test, explains:

As of now, we are trying to find a more permanent solution going forward - so our students can be at their strongest in the exam room, with their native language now as a tool.
