Culture Night

On 21 January, Ilisimatusarfik took part in Culture Night - and here you could experience, for example:

Biology programme

Ilisimatusarfik dreams of starting a biology programme soon.

During Culture Night, you could see the future outdoor classroom for the biology programme and hear about SILA - the Greenlandic bachelor programme in biology. To keep people warm, they also served delicious reindeer soup.

Lecture on Children of the Empire

Author Anne Kirstine Hermann talked about her book "Imperiets børn: da Danmark vildledte FN og Grønland for at beholde sin sidste koloni" ("Children of the Empire: when Denmark misled the UN and Greenland to keep its last colony").

National Archives' exhibition

The National Archives' exhibition "Should Greenland become part of Denmark?" was also on display during Culture Night.

Here you could see and listen to the minutes of the Greenlandic National Council meeting on 8 September 1952, where the National Council members discussed the question of Greenland's future status under state law.
