Will 2023 be the year SILA comes true?

Ilisimatusarfik's dream of a biology programme in Greenland dates back to 2015.
Since 2017, thanks to a close collaboration with Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, major investments have been made, which means that all the infrastructure for the programme is in place today.
In 2017, DKK 53 million was invested in Pikialaarfik, a science education building with modern laboratories, auditoriums and classrooms for a science programme. The operation of Pikialaarfik is currently covered by the Greenlandic Finance Act.
The only funding that is now needed is for the operation of the programme itself, an appropriation of DKK 7.4 million, which is being requested from the Finance Act. In 2022, Aage V. Jensen's Fonds allocated DKK 10 million in start-up funding to cover parts of the biology programme's operations for up to five years, depending on when the programme is approved by the Finance Act.
In our updated Vision Paper (in Danish), you can see an overview of the investments and read why we believe SILA is worth investing in.
