A warm welcome to our Ukrainian guests
On March 09, 2023, Ilisimatusarfik issued a public condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine - and at the same time, we announced how we would try to help where we could
We wrote that "[a]t the moment, our university has no direct partnership agreements in Ukraine - but through a collaboration between different parties in Greenland and the Ukraine, we are at the moment looking into the possibility of receiving one guest lecturer and two guest students from Ukraine."
This ongoing project has now produced results - and we have signed a cooperation agreement with National University Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic.
This cooperation agreement means that on April 04 we will receive a guest lecturer and two guest students from National University - and they will stay with us until the end of August.
Department of Internationalization & Communication will welcome them at the airport - and arrange their accommodation.
The guest lecturer will, among other things, assist in teaching courses related to Business Economics.
The two guest students will follow the courses Economic development in the Arctic, Economics I in addition to Advanced political science.
We are of course aware of possible challenges - e.g. that the semester has started etc. - but from our point of view, it can be solved along the way.
As we also wrote, there is little that we as an educational institution can offer to people whose daily lives are marked by the horrors of war.
However, by welcoming our three Ukrainian guests, we can offer them a moment in a safer environment where they can regain a sense of daily life.
Their first day is April 05, where, among others, our rector will welcome them at a joint breakfast.
Department of Internationalization & Communication will take good care of them during Easter - including a tour of Nuuk and a fishing trip in the fjord.
