We are ready for SILA!

Since January, the SILA group has had two focus points: the first draft of the updated curriculum and the application to the Finance Act.

The curriculum specifies the structure and themes of the SILA program. The draft will serve as a basis for stakeholders, including the employer panel, to provide feedback.

In the application to the Finance Act, which was submitted on 24 February 2023, we apply for DKK 7.9 million annually in operating funds for the SILA program. This is the last thing that is needed before we can start the training of biologists in Greenland.

If the application is granted, we will see the first Greenlandic biology students in February 2025.

This is something we are very much hoping for and looking forward to - more than we can express.

In the process of applying for the Finance Act, we have had appearances before the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports & Church, the Committee for Culture, Education, Research & Church as well as the Finance & Tax Committee.

In addition to their time, the politicians have given us thorough and valuable feedback.

On 01 March, a §37 question regarding the training has also been asked.

In the coming period, we will convene stakeholders for meetings so that we can go into detail with concrete agreements with, among others, hunters, external lecturers and the business community regarding the program.
