We are proud to announce the release of Meeqqat nipaat namminerlu Kalaallit Nunaminnik assilisaat / Børns stemmer og billeder af deres Grønland / Children's voices and pictures of their Greenland.
The book is a collection of photographs produced by a dedicated group of students from the communities of Illorsuit, Uummannaq, Sisimiut and Nuuk. The photographs in this volume were taken as part of photo workshops held in 2016-2017 and offer a glimpse into the lives of young people growing up in the Arctic today. They tell the story of community, home, friendship, and contemporary Inuit culture from the perspective of Greenlandic youth.
The book is a product of the project "Rockwell Kent and Early 20th Century Greenland" funded by the US National Science Foundation - and carried out jointly by researchers at Ilisimatusarfik, Jette Rygaard and Binghamton University, Susan Vanek and Rochester Institute of Technology.
The publication was funded by Ilisimatusarfik and the US National Science Foundation.
Throughout the project, four researchers were involved - Denis Defibaugh, Axel Jeremiassen - as well as Susan Vanek and Jette Rygaard who created this publication.
