Dr. April Winifred Marshall's memorial scholarship handed out

Ilisimatusarfik has with great gratitude received an inheritance from Dr. April Winifred Marshall, which has now become Dr. April Winifred Marshall's memorial scholarship.

The memorial scholarship is available twice a year, with application deadlines 15 March and 15 October.

The purpose is to support female Inuit employees and students at Ilisimatusarfik in connection with higher education or research in ice patrols and glaciology.

By the application deadline 15 October, we had received three applications.

Based on the applications received, the management has unanimously decided to support a project submitted by Lars Demant-Poort.

The project gives five female students in the teacher program a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and practical experience of the Greenland Ice Sheet - at Point 660 (Kangerlussuaq and Russell Glacier).

In addition, they will help to further develop an ice didactics for the teacher program.

The project is awarded DKK 89,900 - and we look forward to following the results with great interest.

The next application deadline for Dr. April Winifred Marshall's memorial scholarship is 15 March 2025.
