On 31 May, there were big smiles and excited expectations when our international guest students set off on the traditional fishing trip - a regular and beloved part of every semester at Ilisimatusarfik.
The fishing trip is a recurring activity where our international guest students get the opportunity to experience Greenlandic nature and culture up close.
The trip took place in beautiful surroundings on the fjord outside Nuuk, and the weather was kind - perfect conditions for an afternoon on the water.
And it wasn't long before the fish were biting.
With fishing rods in hand and a view of the mountains and fjord, one fish after another was reeled in, and the atmosphere was characterized by laughter, camaraderie and small shouts of victory when the catch was successful.
For some of our international guest students, it was the first time they tried their hand at fjord fishing - and it was an experience they will never forget.
The fishing trip gave them a taste of Greenlandic outdoor life and new bonds across nationalities, fields of study and languages.
Whether they caught a whole bucketful or just enjoyed the trip and the company, the afternoon was a great success - and yet another example of how Ilisimatusarfik creates space for both professionalism and community.
