On 16 - 17 October 2025, Ilisimatusarfik was buzzing with life, ideas, and academic reflection when the Learning Festival 2025 kicked off.
The festival was organized in collaboration between the Greenlandic Agency for Education and the Institute of Learning, and this year focused on the humanities: history, social science, religion, philosophy, and personal development.
The purpose of the Learning Festival was clear: to give teachers of the humanities new inspiration and new tools for their daily teaching.
Over two days, teachers participated in a wide range of presentations, workshops, and professional discussions on everything from social development and UNESCO's cultural heritage to digital boundaries and security, mental health, children's rights, economics and society, reading comprehension in history teaching, and strategies against bullying.
More creative and technological topics were also on the program, such as “Chat with historical figures using AI” and “My place - digital stories about culture and identity”.
All presentations had one common goal: to strengthen teachers' professional toolbox and give new energy to teaching.
The Learning Festival 2025 clearly demonstrated the level of commitment and innovation that exists in the humanities and their significance for pupils' understanding of history, culture, and themselves.
