On Friday 27 February 2026, Ilisimatusarfik marked the end of winter with celebration, pride, and high expectations for the future, as a total of 45 graduates received their diplomas.
The graduation ceremony brought together graduates, families, and staff for a solemn day celebrating hard work, professionalism, and perseverance.
This year's winter graduation ceremony saw 26 bachelor's degree graduates, 17 graduate degree graduates, and 2 master's degree graduates, all of whom are now ready to contribute to society with new knowledge and strong skills in a wide range of subject areas.
- Graduation is always a very special day. It marks the end of an important journey for our students - and the beginning of a new one. We are proud of every single graduate and the difference they will make in society, rector Mari Kleist says.
Here are our graduates broken down by programme:
Business Economics: 1 bachelor
Journalism: 1 bachelor
Law: 3 bachelors & 1 graduate
Culture & Social History: 3 bachelors & 8 graduates
Teaching: 2 bachelors & 2 masters in didactics
Translation & Interpreting: 5 bachelors
Social Science: 7 graduates
Social Work: 8 bachelors
Language, Literature & Media: 2 bachelors & 1 graduate
Nursing: 1 bachelor
As something very special, we also celebrated Ulloriaq Grønvold, who was the first person in Greenland to get a law degree from Ilisimatusarfik. Before the graduate programme started in Greenland, Ulloriaq spent a semester at a Danish university, putting him one step ahead of the first official graduate class at Ilisimatusarfik. His achievement is therefore not only a personal milestone, but also a historic breakthrough for Greenland's legal education environment.
During the graduation ceremony, two prizes were also awarded for the best grade point averages.
Sara Niviaaluk Frederiksen from the Social Work programme was honoured with Ilisimatusarfik's award for best bachelor's degree average, and Ulloriaq Grønvold from the law programme was honoured with Greenland Business' award for best graduate degree average.
We would like to congratulate both Sara and Ulloriaq on their excellent exam results.
All our graduates represent both specialized expertise and a strong commitment to contributing to the development of society. Many go straight into jobs, while others continue their professional journey through further education and research.
The winter graduation ceremony is therefore an important milestone - not only for the graduates themselves, but also for our many lecturers, counsellors, and families who have followed them every step of the way.
Together, they celebrated a day filled with joy, relief, and hope for the future.
A huge congratulations to all of them.
