How do companies create a better working environment?
About the research project
This will now be explored in a new research collaboration between Ilisimatusarfik and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Until now, working environment research has largely not been carried out in Greenland, and the research therefore provides an important new opportunity to find out how far the companies have come in taking charge of the working environment - and the extent to which the legislation, which has largely been adopted from Denmark, fits the Greenlandic reality and the needs of companies.
The Working Environment Research Fund in Denmark has granted DKK 1,9 million for a new research project, which will examine how private and publicly owned companies manage their working environment activities. This knowledge is to be used to identify opportunities to strengthen the efforts both in the individual company and in the support of the companies from authorities and the parties of the labour market. The project includes a questionnaire survey for companies with >9 employees and in-depth case studies in four large companies.
The project is carried out in close collaboration with four large companies: Royal Greenland, Royal Arctic Line, Permagreen and Pisiffik. In addition, parties of the labour market and public authorities from Greenland Business Association, SIK (labour union), the Working Environment Authority and various ministries participate in an advisory group to the project.
