Citizen meeting about the IUD case
The research team behind the study of the IUD case invites you to citizens' meetings in Nuuk and Odense.
Everyone is welcome - and the citizens' meetings can also be followed online.
The citizens' meetings take place here:
- At Ilisimatusarfik in Nuuk, 7 September 2023 at 16.15 - 19.15
- At University of Southern Denmark in Odense, 27 September 2023 at 18.00 - 21.00
At the citizens' meetings, the research team will talk about the work on the independent study of the IUD case - and the other contraceptive practices in Greenland and at continuation schools in Denmark with Greenlandic students in the years from 1960 through 1991.
Afterwards, it is possible to ask questions.

- The historical context of the contraceptive practice that began in the 1960s.
- The decision-making process leading up to the initiative to introduce the use of IUDs and other contraceptive methods.
- The concrete implementation in Greenland and for Greenlandic girls enrolled in continuation schools in Denmark.
- How the Greenlandic girls and women have experienced the process through the collection of witness accounts.
- The legal, administrative and healthcare basis at the time for IUD insertion and other contraceptive practices in the country and for students at continuation schools in Denmark during the period.

It will not be possible to submit a personal statement at the citizens' meetings.
Personal statements can be submitted to the research team in the fall when the collection of statements begins.
