Inaugural lecture: "What is territorial autonomy - an example from the Nordic region?"
Maria Ackrén has been appointed professor at Ilisimatusarfik - and in this connection she will give an inaugural lecture entitled: "What is territorial autonomy - an example from the Nordic region?".
Territorial autonomy is defined in many different ways - such as self-governing region / area, asymmetric federalism, subnational jurisdiction, federation, partially autonomous territory, etc.
In this lecture, the audience will be taken on a journey through the research in the field, and Maria will point out how these territories come into being, where we can find them, and why they exist.
She will try to show what has been done so far in research in the field - and then delve deeper into the Nordic autonomies.
The Nordic autonomies will serve as examples of these territories - and we will get an insight into the differences and similarities between the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland.
