Nasiffik - Center for Foreign & Security Policy at Ilisimatusarfik has just published the second survey on Greenlandic attitudes towards foreign and security policy issues.
The survey, conducted in the spring of 2024, provides a unique insight into how the population views topics such as threat perception, cooperation with other countries and the role of great powers in the Arctic.
The survey shows that higher cost of living, unemployment and the economic situation are the biggest challenges for Greenland - just like in 2021.
When it comes to threats to Greenland, most people consider the situation to be stable - but more people now see the security threat as high compared to before.
The survey also provides an interesting overview of Greenland's desire for international cooperation, with Iceland, Canada and the Arctic Council being the preferred partners.
At the same time, a majority see NATO as the most important security alliance.
