Born in Mainz, Germany, Jean Malaurie dedicated many years of his life to studies of the Arctic - and he published a substantial collection of articles and books regarding the topic.

In May of 2023, we had the pleasure of hosting an exhibition of some of Jean Malaurie’s pastels at Ilisimatusarfik - which all expressed the unique culture and natural splendor he had experienced during his over 30 expeditions to the Arctic.
We send our deepest condolences to his family - honored be his memory.
