Nasiffik - Center for Foreign & Security Policy, Department of Arctic Social Science & Economics, and Department of Culture & Social History invite you to a public lecture with Mira Kleist, Bo Lidegaard and Jens Heinrich, who will talk about their new book: “Greenland - a journey from the earliest times to a modern society”.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 21 May 2025, at 17.00 - 19.00 in the auditorium at Ilisimatusarfik.
In the midst of the political storm surrounding Greenland, the speakers published their book “Greenland - a journey from the earliest times to a modern society” in March 2025.
A short book about the history of Greenland told primarily through Greenlandic voices and sources.
But the story does not end here.
The speakers will talk about the work on the book, give an outline of the book's main areas and give their historical perspective on the last six months of turmoil around Greenland.
Everyone is welcome to the event - and there will be tea, coffee and cake.
Mira Kleist has worked in the Greenlandic Foreign Service, the UN and the Danish Ministry of Defense. She is now a climate policy advisor.
Bo Lidegaard is a historian and diplomat and author of a number of historical works - including on Henrik Kaufmann and the defense agreement with the US, originally from 1941.
Jens Heinrich is a historian and Head of Mission at the Greenland Representation in Denmark.
